How to Become a Digital Nomad

A digital nomad is a remote worker who travels from one place to another. Most digital nomads work in co-working spaces, coffee shops, or anywhere with internet connectivity.  Sometimes the challenge is a call for privacy when working.

Getting Started as a Digital Nomad

Before jumping into the nomadic lifestyle, it’s smart to save as much money as possible to support yourself and to take care of emergencies when they arise. Consider selling belongings you no longer want or moving essentials to a storage unit to save money. You can save money on travel by looking for cheaper flights, using public transport, and getting travel insurance.

To find remote work, check out Upwork, Freelancer, and WeWorkRemotely. You can also set up a professional website highlighting your skills and relevant experiences. Include your portfolio to attract more clients.

If you like guiding people and helping them succeed in their endeavors, consider becoming a certified professional coach. Get trained and certified to increase your chances of getting job offers or clients. It’s best to also network with the right professionals to get client referrals. A great place that offers ICF-approved coaching certification programs is the Center for Coaching Certification.

Being a digital nomad may be difficult at times. Everything goes more smoothly when you plan accordingly.

Being a digital nomad and a pet parent at the same time adds to the challenges and adds to the rewards.  In the next blog we will explore having a pet as a digital nomad.
